*The University of Melbourne English Language Bridging Program (UMELBP)
The UMELBP provides a direct English language pathway from Hawthorn-Melbourne to specific courses at the University of Melbourne. Students who have achieved an IELTS band 0.5 lower than their University of Melbourne course entry requirement may be able to proceed directly to their University studies upon successful completion of the UMELBP.

This program is suitable for senior and middle managers who require intensive English instruction for business purposes. The program develops language skills specific to modern business practices and procedures. Participants will also receive instruction in the etiquette required of the international businessperson at social functions. The program includes social functions that give participants the opportunity to practise the skills developed in class.
*Graduate Program in English as an International Language
Entry Requirements -The program is only available to students for whom English is a second or foreign language.
Applicants must have:
a recognised bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, PLUS
an IELTS score of minimum 5.5 with no band lower than 5.0, or equivalent
Acceptable equivalents to the IELTS score are:
TOEFL 523 paper/193 computer-based AND 4.0 in the essay writing
successful completion of an approved 10-week advanced English course at Hawthorn-Melbourne (e.g. English for Academic Purposes 2).
Direct Entry from Hawthorn-Melbourne
Students who have a current IELTS overall score of 5.0 with no band lower than 5.0 can be given a Hawthorn English Language Centre offer for a 10-week advanced English course to meet the English language requirement.
